What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

I think my magazine would need to be distributed by a large publisher because of the potential or reaching a large target audience. My magazine would be best publisher by Bauer. They do not have a magazine of the same genre so my magazine would be completely different to any other products they publish. It would then give Bauer a larger audience they meet through all the magazines they sell
By going with a large publisher for my magazine such as Bauer, the magazine would be able to be distributed to a wide variety of magazine distributors. Through being published by Bauer my magazine would have large distributing numbers as the publisher would be able to do deals with some companies who are magazine retailers to sell my magazine. My figures of selling my magazine would grow, through the publishing company’s connection, if WH Smith and other large magazine retailers were to sell my magazine in their shop. To make my magazine a success going with a large publishing company would be a good idea as the publishing company would already have a wide network of connections of places my magazine could be sold. The company would also have connections with individual companies who could pay to advertise in my magazine, bringing in the money for producing my magazine. The benefits through using a big publisher for the adverts being put in my magazine is that advertising companies would be more willing to pay with them being the publisher because of their previous success in magazines. This would not be true if my magazine was published with a smaller organisation.
Although, all these benefits would make my magazine more of a success than if I was to publish it myself it would take away my freedom of putting in exactly what I want in my magazine. The publisher would get to put their own influence into the production of my magazine because they are publishing my magazine. This would mean that the magazine would not be my total production and would be shared with the publisher. This results in a share of the production, unlike if I was to publish the magazine solely. The influences they would be putting into my magazine would be in a way that would make them, as a publisher, more profit. These would usually be through adverts that would be put into my magazine, which in affect would benefit the production of the magazine as a whole.
